I launched this web app in autumn 2024, after a year of research, design, development and testing. I designed everything myself and brought in specialist freelancers to apply those to the website, launch vid and web app itself.
The listing site, www.smartsyndicate.co, is "Your go-to platform for shared racehorse ownership". Or in non-marketing speak it's a website where you and your friends can browse and buy shares in great horses and then go to the races together and have a great time.
I've spent the last 15 years working with design for TV, film, ads, news and politics, but I grew up on a small stud farm, so this is not completely out of the blue but a combination of applying what I’ve learn across both worlds.
Horseracing is a great sport, but it's complicated to access in the UK (did you know you can own a microshare in a racehorse for as little as £40?), so hopefully this will make it much simpler and open the doors to many more happy racehorse owners.
I designed, wrote and ran my own ad campaigns across print, digital, social media (Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook) and merch - using a combination of my own designs, photography and copy. I called, emailed and chatted with so many extremely helpful people throughout the racing industry for advice and to ge them involved in the project or listed on the app. It’s been live since September 2024 and we already have some great listings from some of the best trainers and syndicates in the UK.
